Remember Newton Minow? He's the one that famously described television programming as a "vast wasteland."
And that was 50 years ago.
Minnow is still around, and he just wrote a piece in the Atlantic explaining that the two words he wanted remembered in that speech were not "vast wasteland." They were "public interest."
I think most broadcasters only vaguely remember what those words mean.
