Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2011 Collection

Baby, you're a star.

With all the '80s looks walking the runways lately, it was only a matter of time before someone had the nerve to make Duckie from Pretty in Pink into a fashion icon in 2011. And why not? Jon Cryer's character inspired an entire generation of sexually confused boys to button their shirts all the way, slap on a bolo tie and a porkpie hat, and dream of settling down with their best fruitfly. With this collection of fun, star-spangled dresses and gowns interspersed with Duckie-style Teddy Boy-inspired looks, we're getting a less neon version of the '80s than their D&G collection, but one that's no less graphic and fun. We love the oversized jackets and porkpie hats; like the neon typographic prints and oversized shirts of the D&G collection, we will point and laugh at anyone over 40 trying these looks a second time, but we urge the kids to get in on the act. Some of these looks are damn cute. Yeah, the star motif might get a little overplayed at times, and there are points where the story seems to go off the rails a bit, but it's still fun, wearable clothes and we once again find ourselves enjoying the fashion outcome of Stefano and Domenico's apparent good moods lately.
